My foundation in natural medicine started early. Growing up in Wisconsin, my parents made sure a whole food diet was a priority along with keeping a tradition that is respectful of nature. During my college years at the University of Minnesota, I was able to explore and experiment within this foundation. I immersed myself in nutrition classes and healthcare studies, which eventually led me to a semester in India. This six-month journey in India exposed me to new ways of thinking about health and the practices we implement to create long-term wellness. It also helped me to look at nutrition from the perspective of what our unique and individual dietary needs may be. I began to realize that the body has an innate wisdom and ability to heal itself when certain obstacles to health are removed. Upon returning to college, I wanted my studies to fall more in line with the new thought process, so I sought out naturopathic medicine for guidance.
I became a board-certified naturopathic physician and acupuncturist after graduating in 2007 from the National College of Natural Medicine, now NUNM. Throughout my six-year program in naturopathic and Chinese medicine, I mentored with doctors specializing in adjunctive cancer care, women’s health, HIV, and various endocrine disorders. Once I graduated and completed my national board exams, I started a two-year Residency program with Dr. Edythe Vickers, N.D, L.Ac, here at An Hao Natural Health Care Clinic.
As a naturopathic and Chinese medicine practitioner I am able to meld western scientific knowledge with eastern ancient practices. This allows me to identify the root cause of illness and implement the true properties of health. I see myself as an educator, investigator, and perpetual student who inspires with the foundations of nutrition and lifestyle habits. I enjoy treating patients throughout the spectrum of their life. In my practice, I encourage my patients to feel empowered by their health choices rather than confined by them. I strive to help my patients eliminate the obstacles to their wellness to ensure lifelong vitality. I utilize a number of modalities to help patients achieve their health goals, among them are nutrition, herbs, acupuncture, supplements, injection therapy and pharmaceutical medications.
