Hello! My name is Hyeyeon (pronounced as hay-yun).
As a native Korean, I was blessed to grow up in a rich culture of natural medicine and healing traditions. I helped my grandmother in using moxa for her ailing knees and watched my mom giving hand acupuncture to our neighbors. The smell of herbs makes me nostalgic, reminding me of my uncle’s traditional medicine clinic in Seoul where he made herbal decoctions every day. These deeply imprinted memories and experiences have shaped my view of the body, disease, and healing processes and led me to undertake the challenging, yet fulfilling journey into naturopathic and Chinese medicine at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, Oregon.
My job as a doctor is finding out where you are at in the trajectory of your healing journey and figuring out what brought you where you are now. In doing so, I am interested in knowing how you eat, digest, eliminate, rest, and sleep because I believe that those are the foundation of health. I am also interested in finding out how your basic constitution plays into the dynamics of maintaining balance since the way we respond to external stimuli are all uniquely different. My goal is for you and I to work as a team to “teach the body how to restore health” so that you can find a way back to a HEALTHIER YOU with ease and grace.
I am committed to treating you as a whole person by providing an individualized regimento achieve more balance in your being in the least invasive way as possible. I use food as medicine, botanical medicine, acupuncture, gentle bodywork such as craniosacral, myofascial release, and pelvic floor therapy, homeopathy, bio-therapeutic drainage, laboratory studies as well as pharmaceutics. I work with patients with various concerns including preventative care, digestive health, mental health, womxn’s health, autoimmune conditions, chronic pain, and cancer.
I graduated with high honors from NUNM with a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and Master of Science in Oriental Medicine. I am a board licensed naturopathic doctor. I also hold a national licensure as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine as well as a state licensure as an acupuncturist. I am currently completing my second-year residency and working toward a third-year residency with Dr. Edythe Vickers at An Hao Natural Health Care Clinic.
In my spare time, I love to watch cute animal videos on the internet, cook and share meals with my loved ones, play ukulele, and wander around the beautiful PNW with my partner and friends.
I am thrilled to be part of An Hao team and am looking forward to working with you!
