Hyeyeon Kim, N.D., L.AC.
Hello. My name is Hyeyeon, pronounced as Hay-yun.
I was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, where healing was woven into everyday life. I remember kneeling beside my grandmother as she applied moxa to her knees for arthritic pain and watching my mother prepare medicinal herbs and practice hand acupuncture. I also remember sitting in my uncle’s clinic, steeped in the earthy scent of herbs, and watching him treat his patients with acupuncture. The idea that pressing a certain point on the hand could ease a headache simply felt natural to me—it was part of how I learned to understand the body.
These early memories and experiences left a deep impression on me and shaped the way I see the body: not as a collection of separate parts, but as something dynamic and deeply interconnected.
That understanding stayed with me. It eventually led me to the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon, where I pursued graduate training in naturopathic and Chinese medicine. After graduation, I completed a three-year residency, including two years under the mentorship of Edythe Vickers, ND, LAc, at An Hao Natural Medicine Clinic. During that time, I cared for thousands of patients across a wide range of conditions, from general wellness to complex and oncologic care.
I offer integrative care for patients navigating cancer, chronic illness, and complex health conditions, particularly when symptoms have been persistent or difficult to address. My work sits at the intersection of East Asian medicine and Western biomedicine, where tradition and science inform one another to provide thoughtful, individualized care.
Before entering medicine, I studied Women’s Studies and worked in nonprofit settings. These experiences continue to shape how I think about health—not only as a biological process, but as something influenced by the social and cultural structures that shape our lives. I bring this broader perspective to understanding each person and their health.
When I am not working, I enjoy cooking and sharing meals with loved ones, rewatching The Great British Baking Show, making tea, playing the ukulele, and wandering through the Pacific Northwest with my partner and our Labradoodles, Charlie and Nugget.
