An Hao Natural Health Care Clinic is a nationally-recognized provider of natural therapies: traditional Chinese medicine, naturopathic medicine, chiropractic, and massage. Edythe Vickers, N.D., L.Ac., is the Clinic Director. The clinic is a division of the Institute for Traditional Medicine (ITM), a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping traditional medicine relevant in the modern setting. For more background information, see: About An Hao Project.
An Hao Clinic has an unwavering ambition: to create an environment that promotes healing on all levels—physical, mental, and spiritual. We do this by providing exceptional health care within a peaceful space, and by striving for the highest good in all situations.
Our licensed health care providers (see individual practitioner biographies for details) are supported by a skilled staff that will help you in setting appointments, filling out paperwork, and billing insurance when your insurer covers our services. In addition, practitioners in training, selected for their demonstrated talents, work and observe at the clinic: a resident trained in naturopathic and Chinese medicine and interns and students from the National University of Natural Medicine and from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.
An Hao Clinic’s professional pharmacy has an extensive formulary: numerous naturopathic supplements in the form of capsules, tablets, powders, and liquids; tableted Chinese herb formulas and east-west blends developed by the Institute for Traditional Medicine; dried Chinese herb extracts (granules) for making personalized formulas; and western herb tinctures. The naturopathic practitioners are able to order medical tests, prescribe certain drugs, and give injections in addition to providing health care guidance, physical therapies, and natural products. In addition, they work with many other practitioners in the area who have specialized diagnostic methods and/or therapeutic protocols for referral as might be needed.
The Clinic facility has a dozen treatment rooms suitable for acupuncture and consultations, as well as a room dedicated to gynecological examinations, another for massage therapy, and one for chiropractic treatments. The clinic entry door leads to a large waiting room where we hope to keep your wait short, as our clinicians endeavor to keep to their schedules. An Hao Clinic is conveniently located in Portland—it is just a few steps from the street car line that follows Northrup west, turning along 23rd Avenue (get off at 23rd and Lovejoy) and returning along Lovejoy going east. The clinic is also reached by the #15 bus line (Belmont/NW 23rd). By car, the clinic is accessed via west Burnside, Highway 405, or Cornell Road; An Hao has a small private parking lot in the back, limited to patient parking while at the clinic for treatment, and there is some street parking in front of the clinic and in the blocks in each direction. The clinic is in an area rich in medical services; the Good Samaritan Hospital is just a block away.
An Hao Clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 6 pm.
An Hao Clinic was voted one of the "Favorite Natural Healing Centers" in Portland on the 2016 Nattie Awards granted by Natural Awakenings Healthy Lifestyle Magazine.
